Model Evaluation

Evaluation (as Romi puts it in chapter 19 of his book) is "to assess the value of a certain activity or product of our system." It's taking a good look at what you have and making sure it's up to par with the expectations and needs of your users/ clients.

Formative evaluation is a process which occurs during the creation and at the end of a course or project.

Summative evaluation takes place at the end of a course or project and has no influence on its creation.

3 ways evaluations can be used in my model are by:

-Gathering and assessing user feedback.

-Use feedback in order to make improvements to the instruction modules.

-Determine the future needs (things to consider) when making more instruction modules.

2 reasons for performing formative or summative evaluations in my model are:
-Formative evaluation is already crucial to the creation to the modules because the library wants to ensure user needs are being met. If feedback is providing through the assessments or anonymous surveys included with the surveys, it is taken into consideration and changes can be made immediately.

-Summative evaluation can also be applied because it's worth asking the students/professors at the end of the semester if the modules were useful, since they replaced face to face instruction with librarians.
